Taiheiyo Cement Group has businesses in the Pan-Pacific region, including on the west coast of the United States, in China, and in Southeast Asia. We are expanding around the world to encompass the vast Pacific Ocean. We are focusing on the main issues confronting our planet both today and into the future, including resource and energy conservation and global warming, and we seek to contribute to infrastructure development around the world. Consequently, we are pursuing our cement business on a global scale.
Nghi Son Cement (Vietnam)
The International Business Company is involved mainly in manufacturing and selling cement, and business of exporting to overseas markets. We have ten manufacturing plants in operation around the Pacific Rim regions, including three plants on the west coast of the United States, three plants in China, and plants in Vietnam, the Philippines, and South Korea. For an intermediate product clinker, we have a production capacity of about 25 million tons, roughly equivalent to our production capacity in Japan. In our cement export business, we are building distribution facilities to export products not only from Japan, but to also engage in intermediary trade and pursue a variety of other businesses.
We have cement plants in China, establishing by joint ventures, starting with Dalian Onoda Cement, Jiangnan-Onoda Cement and Qinhuangdao Asano Cement. These operations are all performing well.
We are also energetically pursuing a variety of businesses in Asian countries. We have established a joint venture in Vietnam and acquired a cement plant and besides are developing a cement terminal business in the Philippines. We are also involved in terminal businesses in Taiwan and Singapore as well. We are also operating a clinker grinding plant in Papua New Guinea. We are pursuing these activities in response to robust demand throughout Asia.
In the U.S., Taiheiyo Cement manufactures cement at three plants in California and Arizona. We also manufacture and sell ready-mixed concrete throughout the West Coast region. Our U.S. subsidiaries are also leveraging the Taiheiyo Cement Group network to actively pursue trade with third countries. We are responding to market needs in North America by importing and selling high-quality cement and other products.
