Handling of personal information on Taiheiyo Cement website

Taiheiyo Cement does not collect personal information about visitors without their consent. The collection of users' personal information in principle requires visitors to willingly provide their personal information. This information is only requested when needed to respond to inquiries or deliver information pertaining to products of Taiheiyo Cement or its Group companies, or to provide requested services.

Cookies

Some services on Taiheiyo Cement's website send a small amount of data, known as a cookie, from the Company's web server to the user's computer. This data is stored on the user's hard drive. Using cookies allows the Company to provide appropriate information based on prior usage history, which helps reduce the burden (such as repeated input) on users. User information identified by cookies is used for the sole purpose of making the Company's website more convenient to use. Browsers can be set to refuse cookies, but please note that refusal of cookies may impair user's ability to use the Company's website normally.

Web beacons

At present the website does not use web beacons. However, Taiheiyo Cement may decide to use web beacons in the future to provide better service for users. In that case, the Company will use web beacons for the sole purpose of providing users with better information and service.

A web beacon is a small graphic file (also called a GIF) embedded in a webpage or an HTML-based email. Embedding web beacons on certain pages is a way for the website to recognize statistical data, such as if and how often a user has visited that page.

Encryption technology (SSL)

All areas of this website that require the input of personal information use data encryption based on SSL encryption technology. However, given the nature of Internet communication, this does not provide a complete guarantee of security.

SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) encryption technology is a system that protects communication by encrypting data sent between a user's computer and the server of the website management service provider. Because the data sent between the user's computer and the website is encrypted, there is very little chance that information sent by the user (e.g. content you input) or information returned to you from that page (e.g. a confirmation screen for the input data) could be intercepted or altered by a third party on the internet.
