Privacy Policy

Taiheiyo Cement Corporation (hereinafter “the Company”) recognizes that protecting personal information is an important social responsibility. The Company has established its own rules and systems and has set out the following policy on the handling of personal information. By implementing and maintaining this policy, the Company strives to manage, use, and protect personal information appropriately.
  1. When obtaining, using, providing, or entrusting personal information, the Company does so appropriately under strict management and strives to protect personal information. The Company does not handle personal information beyond the scope necessary to achieve the purpose of use (use for other purposes) and takes measures to ensure this.
  2. The Company complies with laws, regulations, and other norms concerning the protection of personal information.
  3. The Company takes appropriate measures to prevent and correct unauthorized access to personal information and the loss, destruction, falsification, or leakage of personal information.
  4. The Company responds appropriately and promptly to complaints and inquiries regarding the handling of personal information.
  5. To ensure the above, the Company has established a personal information protection management system, which it reviews continuously and strives to maintain appropriately.

Personal Information the Company Obtains

The Company obtains the following types of personal information in connection with inquiries, requests for materials, applications for seminars and exhibitions, recruitment activities, business transactions, and the like:
  • Name, company name, department, position, address, telephone number, fax number, and email address
  • The content of inquiries and requests and records of the Company’s response
  • Browsing history on the Company’s website, IP addresses, cookies, and other identifiers (see “Handling of Personal Information on the Company’s Website”)
  • Other information necessary to achieve the purposes of use set out in the following section
The Company obtains personal information by lawful and fair means.

Purposes of Use of Personal Information Handled by the Company

  1. To carry out operations related to the Company’s prescribed business purposes (business transactions, IR activities, inquiries regarding financial transactions and pension management, communications, sending of materials, meetings, consultations, deliberations, contracts, ordering and receiving orders, shipping, invoicing, receipt of payment, payment, and management of receivables and payables). The Company already holds personal information necessary for its business activities and will continue to obtain such information in the future.
  2. To provide, obtain, investigate, examine, and respond to information regarding the products and services handled by the Company
  3. To send information about seminars, exhibitions, and other events held (organized, co-organized, sponsored, or supported) by the Company
  4. To respond appropriately to inquiries, requests, and requests for materials from customers
  5. To manage the usage records of products and services provided to customers and to survey and examine customer needs
  6. To manage the entry and exit of persons and vehicles entering the Company’s premises

Disclosure and Provision to Third Parties

The Company does not disclose or provide customers’ personal information to third parties except in the following cases:
  1. When the individual has given consent
  2. When providing the information to a third party specified in advance at the time the personal information was obtained from the individual
  3. When disclosing or providing the information in a form that does not identify the individual, such as statistical data
  4. When providing the information in connection with the succession of business due to a merger, company split, business transfer, or other reason, within the scope necessary to achieve the purposes of use prior to the succession
  5. When required by laws and regulations
  6. When necessary to protect a person’s life, body, or property and it is difficult to obtain the individual’s consent
  7. When particularly necessary to improve public health or promote the sound development of children and it is difficult to obtain the individual’s consent
  8. When it is necessary to cooperate with a national government agency, a local government, or a party entrusted by either in carrying out affairs prescribed by laws and regulations, and obtaining the individual’s consent is likely to impede the execution of those affairs

Joint Use of Personal Information

Within the scope necessary to achieve the purposes of use stated above, the Company may jointly use the personal information it obtains as follows.

Security Control Measures

The Company takes the following measures to prevent the leakage, loss, or damage of personal data and to otherwise ensure its secure management.
  1. Formulation of basic policy and development of rules
    To ensure the appropriate handling of personal data, the Company has formulated this policy and developed internal rules that specify handling methods, responsible persons, persons in charge, and their duties at each stage, including acquisition, use, storage, provision, deletion, and disposal.
  2. Organizational security control measures
    The Company has appointed a person responsible for the handling of personal data, clarified the employees who handle personal data and the scope of their handling, and established a reporting and communication system for cases in which a violation, or signs of a violation, of laws or internal rules is identified.
  3. Personnel security control measures
    The Company provides regular training to employees on points to note in handling personal data.
  4. Physical security control measures
    The Company controls entry to and exit from areas where personal data is handled, restricts the removal of devices and electronic media, and takes measures to prevent theft and loss.
  5. Technical security control measures
    The Company uses access controls to limit the persons in charge and the scope of personal information databases they handle, and has introduced mechanisms to protect its information systems from unauthorized external access and malicious software.
  6. Understanding of the external environment
    When handling personal data in a foreign country, the Company takes necessary and appropriate security control measures after understanding the personal information protection system of that country.
  7. Supervision of contractors
    To carry out its operations smoothly, the Company may entrust part of its operations to contractors and disclose personal information to them to the extent necessary. In such cases, the Company selects contractors that meet the standards set by the Company and exercises necessary and appropriate supervision over them, including by concluding contracts on the handling of personal information.

Handling of Personal Information on the Company’s Website

The Company does not obtain customers’ personal information without their knowledge. When obtaining personal information, the Company relies as a rule on information provided voluntarily by customers, and asks customers to provide it only when necessary for inquiries about products of the Company and its group companies, for sending materials, or for providing services requested by customers.

Cookies and Access Analytics

A cookie is a small text file that a website sends to your browser and that is stored on your device. Cookies do not contain information that identifies you personally, such as your name, address, telephone number, or email address.
The Company’s website uses cookies to improve convenience for customers, to understand usage, and to improve the site.

Access analytics tool

The Company’s website uses Google Analytics, an access analytics tool provided by Google LLC. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect information about your browsing of the Company’s website (pages viewed, date and time of viewing, device and browser type, etc.), but this information does not identify you personally. The information collected is managed in accordance with Google’s privacy policy.

Disabling cookies

Encryption Technology (SSL)

The Company’s website uses SSL encryption technology for all data.
SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) is a mechanism that protects communications by encrypting data between you and the server of the company operating the Company’s website. Because data exchanged between you and the Company’s website is encrypted, the possibility that information you send (such as entered data) or information returned from the relevant page (such as confirmation screens for entered data) will be intercepted or altered by third parties on the internet is extremely low. Handling of Personal Information of Customers Under 16

If you are under 16 years of age and wish to provide personal information to the Company, please be sure to do so with the consent of a parent or guardian.

Requests for Disclosure of Retained Personal Data

When the Company receives a request from an individual or their representative regarding personal data held by the Company—for notification of the purpose of use, disclosure (including disclosure of records of provision to third parties), correction, addition, or deletion of content, suspension of use or erasure, or suspension of provision to third parties—the Company responds appropriately in accordance with laws and regulations.

How to make a request

Please submit your request through the inquiry form under “Inquiries Regarding the Handling of Personal Information” below. The Company will then inform you of the documents required for the request (the prescribed request form, documents verifying that you are the individual or their representative, etc.) and the procedure.

Identity verification

To prevent the leakage of personal information, the Company responds only to requests from the individual (or a legitimate representative). The Company may be unable to respond to a request if identity cannot be verified, if documents are incomplete, if the personal data subject to the request does not exist, or in other cases where laws and regulations permit the Company not to make disclosure. In such cases, the Company will notify you to that effect together with the reason.

Method of response and fees

The Company responds to requests by the method requested by the individual (where disclosure by that method would require substantial cost, the Company may respond by delivering documents or by another method determined by the Company). No fee is charged for requests for disclosure or other actions.
