Ecocement Manufacturing Plant

July 2006, operation of the Tokyo Tama Ecocement Facility owned by the Tokyo Tama Regional Association for Waste Management and Resource Recycling commenced operation in Hinode-cho, Nishitama-gun, Tokyo. The plant can manufacture some 130,000 tons of Ecocement a year. As the primary raw material for this Ecocement, it uses the incineration residue (90,000 tons/year) from burning the municipal waste generated in the Tama region (about 3.9 million people). Taiheiyo Cement Corporation then sells the Ecocement manufactured there.
