Achieved the highest strength in the world by water absorption treatment
The water absorption treatment supplies water to the voids during demolding, and it was found that the more the saturation increases, the more the compressive strength following heat curing is enhanced. This allowed for compressive strength to reach a maximum of 464N/mm2 (average value from tests with three specimens), and we reached the highest strength in the world for casting-made concrete.Eliminating pores by water absorption treatment
We observed the effective structure of PFC, which reached the highest compressive strength in the world, by a variety of instrumental analysis methods. In observations with backscattered electrons (BSE), heavier elements appear brighter, and lighter elements appear darker. Using this characteristic, the proportion of elements within the structure can be determined from image analysis. We measured the void ratio within the hardened body from the ratio of void sections (low brightness area in image) in the BSE image. These results revealed that in contrast to the several percents of voids contained in conventional ultra-high strength concrete, no more than 1% of extremely fine structures had formed in PFC.Achieved extremely low void ratio of no more than 1% (pore elimination)
