Our employees
President Taura in the Kansai Shikoku Branch
In July 2025, President Taura and Senior Executive Officer Kira visited the Osaka office of the Kansai Shikoku Branch to explain the company's policies to employees. President Taura spoke about the progress of the Medium-Term Management Plan and future goals, the theoretical background and mindset for price optimization, trends in the global cement industry, and public trends related to greenhouse gases. In the subsequent Q&A session he answered questions such as "How do you make your work enjoyable?", "What should you do in your 20s?" and "What was the most difficult experience you have had in the past?" Employees working at the Takamatsu office of the same branch also participated remotely.

Employee feedback

The president's address made a strong impression on me, as he emphasized the importance of maintaining fair prices amid declining domestic cement demand, while also fulfilling social responsibilities such as accepting industrial waste and by-products. Furthermore, in terms of achieving fair prices, a clear policy was set out to achieve the mid-term management plan: "Prioritize profits over market share, and work hard to prevent prices from falling." Personally, I felt that the direction of my future work was clear. As a branch employee, I felt that I wanted to promote the Company as one that can "provide total solutions that not only produce cement but also aggregates and industrial waste disposal" and to work together as a branch to improve profits.
President Taura in the Kamiiso Plant
In August 2025, President Taura and Managing Executive Officer Kawabe visited the Kamiiso Plant to explain the company's policies. President Taura spoke to the employees about the future of the cement industry, the importance of safety, future cement demand forecasts for Japan, the company's mission in responding to severe disasters, the importance of DX (digital transformation), and our company's initiatives and their significance towards GX (green transformation). President Taura illustrated his talk with memorable anecdotes such as the relationship between Hokkaido, where the plant is located, and cement and concrete, and his interactions with famous people. He then answered questions such as "What are the measures to prevent the turnover of young employees?", "What are your thoughts on business diversification?" "the current status of DX?" "What is our public relations strategy?" and "What knowledge should new employees acquire?"

Employee feedback

President Taura and Managing Director Kawabe visited the event and received an explanation of the company's policies and strategies. One thing they both shared was that safety is of utmost importance. The idea that safety takes priority over everything else is something that is repeatedly emphasized at the plant, and this experience reaffirmed that the company's top management also shares this same view. The president also spoke about the history of cement in Hokkaido, current demand and price trends, and the position and importance of the Kamiiso Plant within this. I was able to get a bird's-eye view of my workplace's position within the Company and the cement industry, and get a concrete image of how my daily work fits into the larger flow of events. He also spoke in detail about the direction of DX promotion in plants and what plants will look like in the future. I imagine that the way we work in plants will change in the future, and I feel that it is necessary to reconsider the skills we need to acquire.
Since April 2025, we have been holding a series of events called "Discussion with the Executives," in which executives of managing director level and above visit business sites throughout the country to talk directly with employees.
The objectives are to align employee efforts and motivation by directly conveying the thoughts of management to enhance the driving force of our business strategy, and to have employees get to know the personalities of the managers they rarely meet, in addition to explaining management strategies, so that they feel a sense of affinity for the managers and, by extension, the company. On the other hand, it is also a valuable opportunity for managers to confirm the actual situation at the forefront of manufacturing and sales. This year's "Discussion" is being held at each business site in three parts: a lecture, a Q&A session, and a social gathering.
The following is a description of the "Discussion" events, including other occasions when management visited business sites and interacted with employees.
Chairman Fushihara in the Chugoku Branch
In September 2025, a discussion with Chairman Fushihara was held at the Chugoku Branch in Hiroshima City. Drawing on his own on-site experience, the Chairman explained the importance maintaining prices, the importance of understanding operations from a site-oriented perspective through diverse experience, policy trends related to greenhouse gases and related investments, and technological developments, citing specific examples such as the response to the earthquake disaster and circular agriculture in Fukushima. He then answered questions such as "What is the secret to becoming chairman?", "How do you overcome a major failure?" and "What is your advice to young people?" A social gathering followed, where employees, including those from nearby affiliated companies, had frank conversations and deepened their relationships. Chairman Fushihara took this opportunity to visit our group- related facilities in Kitakyushu and Yamaguchi Prefecture.

Employee feedback

In Chairman Fushihara's lecture, we heard about his experiences from joining the Company to becoming chairman. What is particularly noteworthy is that he spent more than 20 years of his approximately 27-year career working in rural areas before reaching the age of 50. During his time there, the chairman said he gained a wide range of knowledge and information through interactions with a variety of people. Furthermore, working at the branch office was a place where experts from a variety of fields, including resources, the environment, and cement businesses, gathered, and it was an environment that could be considered a microcosm of Taiheiyo Cement Corporation. He said that in such settings, many insights and learnings can be gained by engaging in dialogue and asking questions such as "What is the situation in this field?" I myself felt that I wanted to deepen my knowledge through dialogue with those around me in my work.
Vice President Asakura in the Research and Development Division
In June 2025, in order to revive the "Discussion with the Executives" at regional business sites for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic, Vice President Asakura took the lead in visiting the Research and Development Division in Sakura City to engage in dialogue with employees. In his first lectur, he spoke about his own work history, describing the conditions at each workplace and what he learned there, and also about the type of research work he would like to see in the research and development department. During the Q&A session he answered questions such as "What kind of person and skills do you want in an employee?", "What skills are suitable for young employees to progress?", "What is necessary for Japanese people to be successful overseas?" and "What are your thoughts on PR for the company's initiatives?" A social gathering was then held in the cafeteria, where Vice President Asakura interacted with many employees as he visited each table.

Employee feedback

At a talk with executives at the Research and Development Headquarters, we heard from Vice President Asakura about his past experiences. I was particularly impressed by his stories about his experiences abroad, in places like the United States and Vietnam. I learned the skills necessary to enter overseas markets and the importance of respecting local culture and business practices. It was also clear that he had made a lot of effort, including taking English classes on finance and marketing, listening to radio in English, and attending night school in Los Angeles. Vice President Asakura's work attitude, which emphasizes "study and effort" and his perspective on evaluating one's own skills in the market, is an important way of thinking that I feel will be important for my own career in the future.
Senior Executive Officer Matsui in the Tosa Office
In July 2025, Senior Executive Officer Matsui visited the Tosa Office and deepened his interaction with the employees. In his lecture he introduced himself, talked about his work history including his assignment in Vietnam and his involvement with the Tosa Office, his current responsibilities, workplace safety and, finally, the company's performance. In the Q&A session, he answered questions about the circumstances that led to his assignment to Vietnam and the differences between working overseas and working in Japan. Afterward, a social gathering was held, where he interacted and deepened exchanges with employees, including those from nearby affiliated companies. Senior Executive Officer Matsui also energetically inspected nearby affiliated company facilities.

Employee feedback
What was particularly memorable about the speech given by Executive Managing Director Matsui at the Tosa office was his story about his assignment to Vietnam in 2001. The local society was in the midst of change after the Vietnam War and the Sino-Vietnamese War, and the living conditions at the time made it difficult for Japanese people to decide to move there with their families. Despite this, he worked hard to set up the Nghi Son plant with the support of his family. Through this lecture I was reminded that the growth and experience gained in overcoming the various challenges that come with being posted overseas is invaluable, not only for the individual but for the entire family, and that family support is essential to making this happen.
Senior Executive Officer Matsui in the Tokyo Branch
In August 2025, Senior Executive Officer Matsui visited the Tokyo Branch and spoke with employees. In his lecture, he introduced himself, his career history, and the departments he has been in charge of since becoming an executive, and then spoke about company’s current situation, the national cement market, the performance and future prospects of the overseas division, and strategies regarding secondary cementitious materials. In the Q&A session he answered questions such as "How are executives using IT?" and "How can we prevent employees from leaving the workplace?". He continued to interact with employees at the social gathering that followed.

Employee feedback

I was impressed by the talk about the annual employee engagement survey. The survey talked about some questions you can ask yourself and gave examples. For example, "Do your colleagues at work listen to your opinions?" can be replaced by "Do you listen to the opinions of your colleagues at work?" I realized that employee engagement surveys also play an important role in making me reflect on my own daily actions. In the future, when I take part in this survey, I will make sure to answer the questions while reflecting on how I interact with those around me. Through this process, I hope to contribute to improving the work environment.
Managing Executive Officer Ban in the Tohoku Branch
In July 2025, Managing Executive Officer Ban visited the Tohoku Branch in Sendai City and spoke with employees. He gave many anecdotes about what he had learned in various departments at the head office, branches, and the ready-mixed concrete company where he was seconded. He then spoke frankly about the company's future challenges and the direction it should take. During the Q&A session, questions were asked about matters such as " industry reorganization", "future hiring policies", "overseas accounting standards" and "criteria for investment decisions". Finally, a social gathering was held, where he was able to deepen his interaction with branch employees.

Employee feedback

At a talk with executives at the Tohoku branch, we heard from Managing Director Ban about his diverse experiences and his thoughts on accounting and finance in his work. What particularly impressed me was his way of thinking about choosing and rejecting opportunities and the criteria for making decisions. I learned that there are many situations in the workplace where I am required to make decisions, and that knowledge of accounting and finance is important in those situations. I think that analyzing past performance and target values will enable more accurate decisions. I felt that by gaining a wide range of knowledge and experience, like Managing Director Ban, one is able to understand what the Company needs and make important decisions. I myself would like to absorb as much as I can from my future experiences and strive to gain a broader perspective.
Managing Executive Officer Takano in the Ofunato Plant
Managing Executive Officer Takano took the stage at a talk session held at the Ofunato Plant in July 2025. After introducing himself, his career history and his involvement with the Ofunato Plant, he spoke forcefully about the R&D department he is in charge of, explaining its structure, key implementation items and human resource development policy, as well as the importance of cooperation with the plant, and the future direction of research regarding plant operations. This was followed by a lively Q&A session with questions such as "What tips do you have for getting cooperation within the company?", "How to become a reliable employee?" and "How to collaborate with people who have no experience at a plant?". After the session, a social gathering was held to deepen interaction with the plant's employees.

Employee feedback

Under the title "What I'll be talking about today" he prepared a presentation about his career history and experience, an introduction to the research and development department, and his relationship with the plant, and gave a clear and thorough explanation of what he expects from his employees. During the talk, he spoke about the importance of collaboration with plants in research and development, based on his own experience working in plants. When asked how to get technical staff and researchers at plants to work together, he replied, "In order to get them to cooperate with development work despite their busy schedules, it is important to make them understand that commercialization can be achieved at the plant, and then cooperation and collaboration will become very close." At the social gathering we were able to actively exchange opinions with young employees, including new recruits, and it was a very valuable time.
Managing Executive Officer Hirata in the Kanto Branch
In August 2025, Managing Executive Officer Hirata's "Discussion" was held at the Kanto Branch in Takasaki City. After humorously sharing his career history since joining the company, including his time at the quarry and at Chinese subsidiaries, he spoke enthusiastically in plain language about new topics that the employees at the Kanto Branch (who specialize in cement sales) rarely come across, focusing on the quarry and mineral resources business division that he is in charge of, such as the investment strategy for quarries and the sales strategy of the Mineral Resources Business Department. In the Q&A session, he answered questions on topics such as "the future vision of the sales system", "quarrying at overseas subsidiaries" ," maintaining quarry safety" and "multiskill development" He also deepened his interaction with employees at the social gathering that followed.

Employee feedback

Since being appointed Managing Director in charge of the resource business last year, Managing Director Hirata has visited all branches with resource sales departments to spread awareness of the business strategy. However, for this "talk session" he volunteered to visit the Kanto branch, which does not have a resource sales department, in order to interact with employees he does not normally come into contact with. His enthusiasm for having employees understand his experiences and the resource business strategy was clear. During his time working in Nanjing, China, he was shocked by working in a different society and culture, and as he dealt with one problem after another, he suddenly realized "This is what work is all about." This story, combined with the Managing Director's endlessly cheerful way of speaking, taught me the importance of always working positively, even when faced with difficulties. Once developed, the quarry will have enough reserves to last about 100 years, which reminded me of the sheer scale of our business.
Managing Executive Officer Murakami in the Kumagaya Plant
In July 2025, Managing Executive Officer Murakami held a discussion session at the Kumagaya Plant. He spoke in a lighthearted manner, starting with his own background and his career and experience at the company, the company's performance, the efforts of the Environmental Business Department he is in charge of, and the role of the Kumagaya Plant, while conveying the management’s thinking. During the Q&A session, he answered questions on matters such as "communication with foreigners", "transfers", "the difficulty of price revisions" and "the vision that employees should share". The employees unanimously commented that they were impressed by the phrase "seeing the same picture" which illustrates the importance of unity of purpose. On the same day, President Taura also accompanied him and gave a similar lecture and Q&A session.

Employee feedback

The words "playing while looking at the same picture" stuck with me. This is an excerpt from Managing Director Murakami's explanation of the key points for operating a plant safely and stably, quoting the words of Japan national rugby team captain Michael Leitch. I believe the message that respecting diverse personalities and ways of thinking and having all employees share a common goal is essential in running a plant resonated deeply with the employees at the Kumagaya Plant. In order to see the same picture, active communication is necessary on a daily basis. I believe that respecting each other and building an environment where we can grow together is the key to creating a better workplace.
Group Companies
The Taiheiyo Cement Group regularly holds various technical presentations and training sessions within the group for the purpose of sharing knowledge and promoting dialogue and exchange, etc. We aim to maximize our corporate value by working together to develop each employee into a human resource who can be successful both inside and outside the company, thereby enhancing the overall strength of the group.
Our Mining Department and group companies (limestone and quarrying sites) have a basic policy of promoting technical research and new technology development in a planned and strategic manner as a leading company in the quarry mining sector. Based on this basic policy, we hold the "Taiheiyo Cement Group Resource Technology Presentation" every year to present initiatives related to new technologies in the quarry mining sector. At the 26th presentation, 13 young engineers from each office presented their efforts to solve challenges related to safety, environment, and production at each office. As outstanding initiatives, Chichibu Taiheiyo Cement Corporation was selected for the Gold Award, Mie Taiheiyo Mining Co., Ltd. for the Silver Award, and Kawara Mining Co., Ltd. for the Bronze Award.
Chichibu Taiheiyo Cement Corporation, the Gold Award winner, reported on "Strength Verification of Rockfall Protection Fences." Chichibu Taiheiyo Cement Corporation has been promoting safety measures, paying close attention to mining operations at the quarry and installing rockfall protection fences in case of an emergency. This time, the initiative to further enhance the safety of the entire quarry by reviewing the fence design and improving its strength to fully demonstrate the protective function of the rockfall protection fence was highly evaluated. In addition to this presentation, we also hold regular briefings with group companies on all-quarry QCC (quality control circle) and on-site improvement activities, and on the technical efforts of engineers. We will continue to work together to improve our technological capabilities in order to form a sustainable group of engineers.

General Manager Matsushita and the award winners whose efforts were evaluated (FY2025)
We conduct training for each job level of employees aimed at improving the intellectual property literacy of the Taiheiyo Cement Group employees. In addition to in-house training such as basic training to learn the fundamentals of intellectual property and patent description training for young engineers, we also incorporate training by external organizations and have established an intellectual property training system so that employees can acquire knowledge step-by-step according to their years of experience and expertise.
Many employees from group companies also participate in various training programs, and awareness activities are spreading throughout the Group. In these training sessions, in addition to the necessity of protecting our own rights, we also raise awareness of the importance of respecting the rights of other companies.
We will continue to strive to improve the intellectual property mindset of the Taiheiyo Cement Group through activities that meet the needs of the entire group.

FY2025 Basic Training
The 2025 Taiheiyo Cement Group Technology Presentation was held at the Research and Development Headquarters. This technology presentation has been held every year except during the COVID-19 pandemic as a venue to promote technical collaboration between the Research and Development Headquarters and group companies, and to aim to create new businesses. This year marks the 24th time the event has been held. On the day, a total of 173 people participated, including 74 people from the head office, Chairman Fushihara, President Taura and executives, and 99 people from 21 group companies.
This technology presentation consists of three parts: oral presentations, poster presentations, and technology development demonstrations. The oral presentations were themed on "The results of technological development supporting the growth of the Taiheiyo Group and technological development toward carbon neutrality" and a total of 12 reports were given by our company and 12 group companies. As a representative example of group collaboration, progress was reported on trial construction and new application development for the CO2 absorbing and hardening cement "Carbofix® Cement" through collaboration with group companies, with an eye toward social implementation before 2030, as well as efforts to create a new market for CO2 absorbing concrete. Furthermore, regarding technologies for responding to severe disasters caused by climate change, a technical catalog was compiled to widely disseminate the Group's technological capabilities, and the status of test construction, which is scheduled for completion in December 2025. The catalog was presented as part of the cooperation with Yakushima Town's Zero Carbon Island initiative. Furthermore, the development of a unique technology that utilizes unused domestic resources to simultaneously produce fluoride products and high-performance silicate fertilizers was introduced. All of these initiatives were highly praised by participants as leading to new profit creation and value creation. In addition to these oral presentations, technology development demonstrations and poster presentations were held, where participants exhibited and demonstrated the latest technologies and products, leading to lively and meaningful exchanges of opinions among participants.
Finally, President Taura summarized the event by saying "I would like to see the entire group promote innovation and advance research and development that contributes to solving social issues and contributes to profits." To achieve this, the Research and Development Headquarters will further strengthen collaboration within the Group and evolve into a Group-wide research institute that promotes research and development by combining the collective strengths of each company. This technology presentation meeting is an important forum to support these efforts, and we will continue to hold it in the future.

We held the Taiheiyo Cement Group's International Contract Training in a hybrid format of in-person and web participation, with over 100 employees from our company and group companies attending. This training focused on the "English Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA)" which was particularly requested by participants of last year's international contract training, and explained the structure, main clauses, points to check during review, and alternative proposals of the NDA. The lecture content was made immediately applicable in practice by presenting specific English alternative proposals. We received positive feedback from participants, such as "It was practical and easy to understand" and "The alternative proposals were also shown, which was very helpful."
The Legal Department will continue to focus on legal education to provide more substantial legal support to our company and domestic and overseas group companies, and to help improve the legal knowledge and skills of each company's employees.

In recent years, the labor shortage to maintain and expand the construction volume of paving blocks has become a pressing issue, requiring early measures for saving labor in construction and improving productivity. In order to solve these issues, the association aims to promote mechanized construction and improve the productivity of block pavement, and is working together with its member companies nationwide to conduct mechanized construction tours and other activities.
We will continue to vigorously expand the application and promotion of block paving and strive to improve customer satisfaction.

Opening of the Akiba Shrine on the Plant Grounds
(Kamiiso Plant)

Every year, the Kamiiso Plant opens the Akihabara Shrine, located on the plant grounds, to local residents for seasonal events such as the summer festival, New Year's visit to the shrine, and Dontoyaki (burning of bonfires). This is because the area around Akihabara Shrine, which was originally a shrine deeply rooted in the local community, was incorporated as part of the expansion of the plant. We hope to continue opening the shrine to local residents who wish to visit in the future.

Every year, Myojo Cement accepts internships and work experience programs for high school and junior high school students from the local city of Itoigawa, and in 2024 accepted a total of eight students from three schools in the city.
After observing the cement manufacturing process, the students had the opportunity to organize a disaster preparedness supply warehouse and experience document creation using a computer. The students commented "When I went inside the plant, I was surprised to see how spacious it was and the variety of different job roles" and "The employees were very warm and welcoming."
We would like to continue promoting the cement industry through these events in the future.
