Ecocement System
What is Ecocement?
Ecocement is a new type of cement made primarily from incineration ash, sludge, and other waste materials generated when incinerating waste from our daily lives at treatment plants. In July 2002, it was certified as the Japanese Industrial Standards (JIS R 5214).
The raw materials for Ordinary Portland cement consist of limestone, clay, silica, and iron material among other components. Ecocement, on the other hand, uses incineration ash, sludge, and other such waste as substitutes for limestone, clay, and silica. Incinerator ash from the burning of municipal waste contains all the necessary components for manufacturing cement, and effectively recycling it for this purpose reduces the amount of waste that must be treated.
